When you think of iconic racing franchises, it’s hard not to think of Gran Turismo. ‘The Real Driving Simulator’ has delivered on its promise for over 25 years, and Polyphony Digital is hiring for the next GT game.
If you grew up with any PlayStation console, chances are you’ve owned a Gran Turismo game at some point, or at least played one. Its excellent brand of simulated driving that has gotten better over the years, and looks so realistic you’d think you were in the car.

There are 18 job listings at Polyphony Digital at the time of writing. There’s probably always one or two jobs going, but there might not be a better time to apply.
A translated message on the job page says this (presumably from Polyphony Digital Founder Kazunori Yamauchi):
“Gran Turismo” production team recruitment. It’s been 25 years since I started making Gran Turismo. The main reason we were able to keep making it was because of the players. I think this is proof that the work I continued to make so hard resonated properly. We are proud to have realized the ideas of the future as much as possible through art and technology. But I always think it’s still not enough to deliver the best experience to players…I want to create the future with art and technology. To those of you who have an insatiable desire to create. We look forward to your passion, technology, and ideas.”
There’s a giant headline under the message, which reads: “Now hiring staff for the production of ‘Gran Turismo.’”
There are tester roles, CG Artist opportunities, and much more.
Knowing how long the development cycle of these games is now, it’s unlikely we’ll see the next Gran Turismo anytime soon, and it might be a smart bet to say it will only be playable on the PlayStation 6.

I’ll tell you what we DON’T want to see. The roulette system. I’m saying this as someone that was hooked on GT1 as a kid (yes, I’m that old).
What I would love to see however, is the ability to purchase different manufacturing trims of the same model car. Albeit, I understand that licensing limits simply won’t be able to support that.
Now, between what we want to see and don’t want to see, the dream build? The entire collection of GT1 – 7 vehicles, to include a few of the more modern vehicles at launch. Sigh, but I think we all know that’s just a pipe dream.
Keep graphics and improve physics, like ACC, would be some game for PlayStation
You’re THAT old? I was an adult and married when that came out. Bought the system specifically for Gran Turismo.
I really want like older 2000-2015 cars like the 2011 civic lx sedan and like normal v6 audis etc stuff like that, base model cars like every day traffic too
You got the gist of everything I see we have purists in here🤣🤣and you are right the gt1 car collection should be maintained but they should add the porsches it cannot be a racing game without porsche in my opinion just take the Gt1 as the canvas then build from there adding stuff like optional engine tuning and modernizing the overall gt1 a bit so its more modern but still Hella difficult 😎😎
If they bring it to pc complete with proper wheel and multi input support, ill keep my eye on it. Otherwise meh. As a fan of the series from the start way back in the 90s, i cant justify buying a ps5/6 and a whole new sim setup for just one game. While GT was pretty much where i started my sim journey almost 30 years ago now, the genre and hardware has long moved forward, yet PD/Sony seems to not.
Can make a update for GT7 with some news cars and races.
New GT should have a “Rivals” mode system similar to forza where you can compete online with best lap times over various circuits. Make it so Daily races can be entered with your friends so its not such a solitary experience.
Also the ability to take away steering wheel in cockpit view for sim racers with rigs.
I hope that they Focus on improving drifting in gran turismo cause it’s not good when using a wheel in fact it’s almost impossible I bought ps5 and wheel for it & im broke.
They need to fix the pitting experience. It should not take 20-30 seconds just to get to the box, it should not take 5-10 seconds to change the tires and it should not take 15-20 seconds to fuel up the car. Bottom line a pit should not take almost a minute start to finish…its just ridiculous.
I would also like PD to bring back time trials to win your starting point in the race as an option. I’d also like them to bring back standing starts…the chase is a race game is annoying.
I’d like to see some new tracks and remastered old tracks, a true drag strip, better dirt & snow driving physics. It would be cool to have a dyno and test track to test the cars after we buy mods right from the purchase place instead of having to go into the garage or a game to setup the car.
Not every race series has F1 style sub three second pitstops.
A routine pit stop in WEC takes around ~1min due to the limitations of the regulations that limit the number of mechanics working on the car at once, there was a Le Mans 24hr one year where the Porsche #2 car that won spent 98 minutes in the pits.
I am a huge fan of this game and while I haven’t been able to play the later versions I noticed one thing the later versions have become a little to simple I watched a guy take the nurburgring 21km track in a hyper on full send going at over 300kmph at corners that even I hesitated 180kmph so I think the game should retain the level of difficulty as the first gran turismo roll out ,right now thats the one I regularly play and Jesus that thing can frustrate people 🤣🤣🤣the difficulty of modern gran turismo play is too low and this a boring vibe also just to teach people that real men SHOULD DRIVE MANUAL shifters I hope you make it so that there is no Automatic gear shifting just to increase difficulty purists like I will love it thanks
