Gamers everywhere are contending with the sudden revelation that every Ubisoft game in the world has gone offline for several hours. The company’s support team posted confirmation on social media that a brand-wide maintenance window has opened up as of 1 PM UTC and it’s to run until at least 5 PM UTC (around four hours).
The notice indicated that every Ubisoft game and system across all platforms will be impacted by this news, with sessions being interrupted across the board. It wasn’t indicated why this maintenance is taking place, but it might be linked to Ubisoft’s recent struggles with hacker groups.
Why is Ubisoft Down?
Ubisoft’s full suite of games and systems has gone offline for global, widespread maintenance.
This was indicated by a post on social media raised just ten minutes before the outage kicked in. The notification gave players almost no time to prepare before all games blinked offline, disrupting sessions worldwide.
While this outage should have included games like Rainbow Six Siege X, The Division, The Crew, Assassin’s Creed, and For Honor, there are no indications on sites like Down Detector that huge issues are being dealt with by players anywhere.
This is likely down to timing. It’s the middle of the morning in most of the United States, much of Europe is at work, and much of Asia and Oceania is fast asleep. It’s awkward timing something like this, but perhaps Ubisoft did something right picking this time for a global platform outage.
Many believe this outage is something to do with recent struggles Ubisoft has had with hacker groups targeting its games and systems, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
