Sword of the Sea has won at the 2026 Grammy Awards, beating games like Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and more.
The Grammy Awards 2026 took place yesterday, finally announcing the winners of Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and more. Many games were nominated for the Video Games and Other Interactive Media category, and one game has stood out from the rest.
Sword of the Sea Wins Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games
As revealed in last night’s event, Sword of the Sea’s Austin Wintory won the best score soundtrack for video games and other interactive media. The other nominees included Pinar Toprak from Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – Secrets of the Spires, Wilbert Roget II from Helldivers 2, Gordy Haab from Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Cody Matthew Johnson & Wilbert Roget II from Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card & A Pirate’s Fortune.
Sword of the Sea is an atmospheric surfing adventure, which is developed by Giant Squid Games. You play as Wraith, who, with his handy hoversword, is able to pull off moves from a snowboard, skateboard, and surfboard. Players will be riding waves of sand and water as they shred halfpipes, ramps, and wall rides. All of that is explored beautifully, with the ocean breathing life into the barren desert, packaged with now-Grammy Award-winning music.
In other news, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has surpassed Elden Ring in all-time GOTY awards. Additionally, Highguard was meant to shadowdrop before the Game Awards 2025 finale spot was planned.
