Tomb Raider Co-Creator Prefers New Chapters Over Remake

Tomb Raider’s co-creator has commented on the new remake, Legacy of Atlantis, revealing that he prefers new chapters.

For those unaware, The Game Awards 2025 was a fantastic event for Tomb Raider fans. Check out what the original co-creator had to say about the new remake.

Tomb Raider Co-Creator Says He’d Prefer Exploring New Lost Worlds Over “Another Remake/Remaster/Reimagining)

Spotted by Core Design on X (formerly Twitter) via TheGamer, Tomb Raider co-creator, Paul Douglas, expressed his views about the remake announcement through a new post on BlueSky. Douglas stated, “She’s back apparently”, adding that he would personally prefer “exploring new lost worlds than another remake/remaster/reimagining of something we crafted under intense duress in the 90’s.” The director concluded, stating, “Dinosaurs will always be cool though…” with a drawing of a dinosaur attached to the post.

In follow-up posts, he first acknowledged the arrival of Tomb Raider: Catalyst, stating “Aha! We get the best of both worlds…” with a flag of India and dinosaur emojis. Later, Douglas noted that he is “looking forward to seeing both new games,” adding that both games are visually stunning and are something they could only dream of 30 years ago. He concluded, stating, “We will have to wait and see if the gameplay and resulting feelings of exploration and adventure are as good.”

In other news, Alien star is in talks to feature in Prime Video’s Tomb Raider series. Additionally, the series is set to “reinvent the franchise“.
