How to Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Eevee and its various evolutions return in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with Umbreon one of the fan favorites, but all the various methods to evolve Eevee into its desired forms can be complicated.

While none of the Eevee evolved forms have a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, they remain among the most desirable Pokémon in the game, and Umbreon will top the list for plenty of players wanting to bolster their party.

If you want to ensure you correctly evolve Eevee to guarantee an Umbreon, we’ve got all the details you need.

Eevee will only evolve into Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A when a high friendship level has been reached, and it must also be nighttime.

However, it’s essential to check the moves set on your Eevee before triggering an evolution, as an Eevee that knows a Fairy-type move will evolve into Sylveon instead. High-level Eevees caught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A from Wild Zone 19, for example, automatically know Charm, which must be removed from its move pool.

Umbreon is one of the three Eeveelutions that require high friendship to be obtained, with separate differences for obtaining each of the trio. Thankfully, it’s easier than ever to achieve high friendship with a Pokémon in Legends: Z-A.

While levelling up Eevee and feeding it Exp Candies will boost its friendship level, the best approach is to utilize the Cafe feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A ,as this provides a huge boost in friendship. Simply locate a Cafe, select a drink, and hang out with your Pokémon.

Alternatively, spending time with your Pokémon on a bench also provides boosts to your friendship level with Pokémon, and, unlike cafes, it won’t cost you any of your hard-earned money.

Can You Catch Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

No, Umbreon is not available to catch in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and the only way to obtain it is by evolving Eevee.

While other Eevee evolutions are available to catch in Legends: Z-A inside Wild Zone 20 as Alpha Pokémon, the list of potential spawns only consists of Eevee’s Stone Evolutions—Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Glaceon, and Leafeon.

That leaves Umbreon, Espeon, and Sylveon as the trio of Eevee evolutions that are exclusively obtained through evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, or through trading with another player.

Umbreon could be more accessible in the Mega Dimension DLC when it launches, however, as that will introduce a host of new Pokémon spawns and areas to explore, but for now, evolving Eevee is the surefire method to obtaining an Umbreon.
