Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Village, and Requiem are releasing for the Nintendo Switch 2 simultaneously, and Capcom has now explained the reason for this decision.
Last month, it was confirmed that not only will Resident Evil Requiem release on the Switch 2, alongside the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions, but also RE Village and RE7 Biohazard will be arriving on the platform on the same day. Many players were confused about why Capcom planned to release three games from the franchise at the same time, and the developers have now explained their reasoning.
Resident Evil Requiem, Village, and Biohazard Are Releasing Simultaneously To Provide More Options for Newcomers
Spotted by MyNintendoNews, Resident Evil Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa spoke about launching 3 RE games simultaneously during an interview with NewGameNetwork. Kumazawa first talked about the development process, stating how RE Village was the first port for the Switch 2, and the process was ‘smooth’. Thanks to that, Capcom decided to port RE Requiem for the Switch 2, which went “smoothly” as well.
With the two Resident Evil games running smoothly on the platform, Capcom decided to take it a step further and bring Resident Evil 7 Biohazard into the mix, too. Capcom had a “bit of a baseline” with this port, as they had already created a cloud version for RE7 on the original Switch.
Regarding the launch of these games together on February 27, 2026, the producer explained that this decision will provide newcomers with more freedom. They can either start with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and play through the series till Requiem or start directly with the latest instalment.
In other news, Resident Evil Requiem’s bosses will have players ‘using their wits‘. Additionally, the latest instalment will be “almost an upgrade‘ of RE2’s style of horror and gameplay.
