ROG Xbox Ally Release Date Explained—Expected Launch Times & Release Date Confirmed

The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X could be the dawn of a new era. The addition of Xbox to ASUS’s Rog Ally line could be just what the handheld needs. All eyes are now focused on the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally models and their respective release dates, so let’s check out when they’re coming and potential launch times.

A new warrior(s) has entered the ring—the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. This officially puts Xbox in the handheld market—backed by ASUS—and the early interest has possibly blown expectations away. The Asus ROG Xbox Ally X was sold out worldwide on the Xbox Store within a day.

We’ve already been through all ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X differences, so let’s check out the release date and times.

The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are due to be released on October 16, 2025.

That’s right, whichever version you opt for, the devices are coming out this year! A 2025 release date was theorized, and then the prices came along to make people think twice about committing. The US prices and UK costs are nothing to scoff at, unfortunately, but the handheld market is extremely competitive with everyone vying for a piece of the portable pie.

October 16 leads nicely into the weekend. So, if you have a backlog of games to play, you can grab the console, kick back with a beverage (alcoholic or otherwise), and enjoy a fun Saturday and Sunday.

What Time Does the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally Launch?

Even though it’s not official, expect the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X to launch at midnight worldwide on October 16—with potential midnight launches planned as well.

Most of our release hubs feature games, many of which have digital versions. As this is a console, there’s no preloading or getting it ready; it needs to be delivered or picked up from a physical retailer. You can imagine Xbox and ASUS want this to be available ASAP, and so we’re backing many stores like Walmart and Best Buy to hold midnight launches.

This means you should be able to get the device the second it’s midnight in your region. If this does change, we’ll update this guide, but a midnight launch makes the most sense.
