First Clip of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia Emerges Online as Season 4 Release Date Confirmed

The first clip of Liam Hemsworth’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia has emerged online, uploaded by the Netflix team just hours ago. This clip was accompanied by a release date for the long-awaited fourth season of the show, coming on October 30, exclusively on Netflix.

It has been more than two years since season three aired, which of course starred Henry Cavill as the iconic main character. We know that the show has two more seasons left and will end with the culmination of the fifth season, and fans have been chomping at the bit to see how Liam Hemsworth picks up the mantle abandoned by Cavill.

Liam Hemsworth Isn’t a Bad Geralt

We don’t get too much of a look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, but we get enough to get an impression of his portrayal of the legendary monster hunter. When the news hit that Henry Cavill was vacating the role at the end of season three, fans worldwide despaired, mourning the arrival of Hemsworth, the brother of Chris Hemsworth, of Marvel fame.

Here’s the first clip of Hemsworth as Geralt:

He’s not quite as gruff as Cavill, nor as broad, but he makes a fine Witcher. I’d say he’s very reminiscent of Michał Żebrowski, the Polish actor who played Geralt of Rivia in The Hexer in 2002.

In the clip, we see Hemsworth battle a wraith, one of the more challenging enemies in The Witcher’s universe that requires intense abilities to defeat, which he does. We get a look at some sign casting, some acrobatic combat escapades, and hear a line uttered by Hemsworth that could have been pulled straight from a Lord of the Rings flick.

Season four of The Witcher will debut exclusively on Netflix on October 30. Are you excited? Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum.
