Hollow Knight: Silksong players can use a cheat code to unlock the perma-death Steel Soul difficulty early.
Team Cherry’s highly anticipated release, Hollow Knight: Silksong, has just been released, and some players are already struggling with the game’s difficulty. To such an extent that there are already several mods available now that can enhance your playthrough. However, the latest development is for hardcore players, who want the most challenging experience right from the start of their Hollow Knight: Silksong playthrough.
Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Perma-Death Difficulty Can Be Unlocked Early Through a Cheat Code
The original Hollow Knight game also featured a harder difficulty mode called Steel Soul, which could be unlocked after completing the game for an even more challenging experience. Silksong also offers this option, but players seeking to experience it from the very beginning can do so by using a cheat code.
Spotted by MP1ST, a new post on the r/Silksong subreddit reveals how players can access the Steel Soul difficulty through a cheat code. All they need to do is go to the Main Menu and then click on ‘Extras’. Once they have opened the menu, they need to enter the following cheat code: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.
As soon as you have entered the right inputs, a sound cue will play and the screen will flash white for a split second. Now you can start a new game and will receive two difficulty options, Classic and Steel Soul. Steel Soul’s description states, “NO REVIVING. DEATH IS PERMANENT.”
