EA Sports pulled back the curtain on NHL 26 on Wednesday, announcing the game’s release date, platforms, and new features. This year, the game focuses on gameplay updates, Ultimate Team and Be A Pro.
NHL 26 Features
Per EA Sports, the main updates coming to NHL 26 are:
- ICE-Q 2.0 Powered by NHL Edge: “ICE-Q 2.0 utilizes powerful NHL EDGE data so you can think, move, and play like your favorite superstars.”
- X-Factors: “X-Factors enhances an arsenal of 28 abilities over five different categories.”
- Be A Pro: “A revamped Be A Pro mode allows the player to live their hockey journey from rookie to superstar.”
- HUT Seasons: “HUT Seasons is an all-new, dynamic game mode experience where every match-up matters.”
More details on the new features will come in the form of deep dives closer to the game’s launch. What wasn’t announced, however, were what changes, if any, were set for the game’s franchise mode. It was also confirmed that online crossplay will be limited to World of CHEL and Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) once again.
NHL 26 launches on September 12 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In addition to the game’s features and release date, it was confirmed that Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk and NHL Legend Keith Tkachuk will join their brother/son Matthew (Florida Panthers) on the Deluxe Edition cover.
