Battlefield 5 isn’t considered an all-time great BF game, but it’s still pretty good. This is evident in its Steam Charts figures, which show Battlefield 5’s player count remains consistent in 2025. This could change with the release of a new BF game, but let’s check out its player figures.
I think it’s fair to say Battlefield 5 was a ‘safe’ release. It didn’t innovate much, and its Firestorm battle royale mode struggled to compete with other contemporaries—Warzone, Apex Legends, and Fortnite.
Despite this, even with newer BF releases, the game retains a loyal audience who still can’t get enough of the shooter in 2025.
How Many People Are Playing Battlefield 5 in 2025?

Roughly 8,000 to 10,000 players are playing Battlefield 5 in 2025.
For a seven-year-old game competing against newer Battlefield games—and countless other multiplayer shooters—I think Battlefield 5 is doing pretty good. You might be even more impressed when I tell you about the game’s peak numbers.
Battlefield 5’s ‘Peak Players’ from month to month near-enough tripled the average player count. For example, March 2025’s average number was 9,398, but its Peak count was 28,543. The trend is consistent throughout the other months.
Battlefield 5 Steam Charts Player Count, Explained
6,337 people played Battlefield 5 on average in July 2025, and the information comes from the ever-reliable Steam Charts.
Steam Charts is a valuable source for identifying a game’s monthly player count numbers. This only tracks PC players and can’t give us details on PlayStation and Xbox users. The Battlefield 5 page shows the player numbers since it went live in June 2020.
I need to point out that Battlefield 5 originally came out on Nov. 20, 2018. Meaning, we aren’t able to get a true reflection of the game’s initial debut stats and how it performed for the first year or so.
Regardless, from June 2020 onward, Battlefield 5 had a few thousand players each month. This changed dramatically in September and October 2021. Battlefield 2042’s looming launch and eventual release saw a huge increase in numbers.
July 2021 had 9,910 players on average, whereas in October 2021, this shot up to 27,361. The negative reaction to Battlefield 2042 caused a shift where the community ditched BF 2042 and returned to older Battlefield games.
Since then, the game has fluctuated due to different circumstances. It always seems to have a nice boost toward the end of the year. November 2023 gave Battlefield 5 its all-time Steam Charts peak of 114,017 players, for example.
A few thousand players keep coming back in 2025. But expect Battlefield 6 to have a big impact.
