Does Battlefield 6 have Crossplay? Cross-Platform Status Explained

Battlefield 6 is EA’s next mammoth entry in the explosive and destructive series. Featuring more player feedback than ever before and explosions that will shake the Earth to its very core, I’m here to sidestep the bullets and let you know if Battlefield 6 has crossplay for bigger and better matchmaking.

If watching the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal showcase doesn’t get you hyped, then nothing will. BF6 looks like a return to old-school, all-out warfare with bullets, bombs, and badass destruction. We’ve already seen those much-hyped ‘Battlefield moments’, and fewer hovercrafts scaling buildings.

EA and Battlefield Studios have a chance to make something special for millions of players. It will be even more special if said players can interact with each other via crossplay in Battlefield 6. Let’s see if it’s the case.

It’s confirmed that Battlefield 6 will have full integrated crossplay across multiple formats when it launches in October.

The good news comes from Eurogamer, who got the scoop: “The game will have crossplay, as confirmed at the press and creator preview.

This means your matchmaking—should you have crossplay enabled—will find players from all available consoles, making for speedier matchmaking and giving the system the best chance of finding local players in your region—increasing connection stability and reducing lag.

Most people assume crossplay is a given for modern-day multiplayer titles. Sloclap’s Rematch, for instance, chose not to have crossplay at launch, and the decision didn’t go down well with the community. Battlefield is a monstrous proposition, though, and the FPS is well-versed in having crossplay and contending with hundreds of thousands (even millions) of users simultaneously playing.

Which Platforms is Battlefield 6 Crossplay Compatible With?

Battlefield 6 crossplay will apply to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC players.

You don’t need to read between the lines here; the Switch 2 misses out. The OG Nintendo Switch is understandable, as it just isn’t powerful enough. The Switch 2, on the other hand, is a beast. But Battlefield 6 isn’t coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 anytime soon, so we can rule that out of the conversation.

It’s great news for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC owners! Finding a Battlefield 6 match on any of these platforms will include players from the other formats. Again, this will make your life much faster, easier, and more stable.

You can always turn this off if you don’t want to. Fingers crossed this doesn’t happen, but cheaters and hackers can pop up—usually on PC. If you’re a console player, you might want to turn off crossplay if the issue gets too bad, for example.

It feels like everyone is unified in their excitement for Battlefield 6. It’s been too long since we’ve had a legendary BF title. Now I open the floor for you to possibly blow it up—what do you want to see in Battlefield 6? Does it look like EA and associated companies in Battlefield Studios have learned the right lessons? • Yet another battlefield i won’t waste time on. As a PC player i wish it was opt in.. most gamers are to stupid to look at settings and run default.. i refuse to play with console and that ofc means you find mo PC players.. also give me damn server browser!!! That way i get my games without console turds and they get their random garbage auto play they are used to.. thankfully from the last 200 hrs played it has all been PcVR so zero crossplay possible ever.. never see the kids on their toys with hardware older my pc 8 yeara ago.
