Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be launching on Nintendo Switch 2 relatively soon, if a recent PEGI rating is anything to go by. The inbound rating was spotted on the PEGI platform recently, and while it’s not reflected on the game’s main page, there’s a reference for it front and center when you search for the game.
This news comes just days after Yves Guillemot mentioned Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be coming to ‘other machines’ later this year, during a recent shareholder forum.
Shadows, But Smaller
It was kind of assumed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be released on Nintendo Switch 2, and now we’re closer than ever. The recent uncovering of the PEGI reference by Nintendo Life puts us one step nearer to Ubisoft’s release of the best Assassin’s Creed game in years on Nintendo’s new flagship console.
During a recent shareholder meeting, Yves Guillemot suggested the game would come to other machines later htis year, and that was backed up by CFO Frederick Duguet. The pair also touched on Star Wars Outlaws coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch platform hasn’t received a ‘new’ Assassin’s Creed game for some time. It has missed out entirely on the RPG era of Assassin’s Creed games, and all that’s available are updated versions of older games, like Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection.
On the PEGI website, the 18+ rating has been handed to Assassin’s Creed Shadows because of the following content:
This game contains depictions of graphic violence to human characters. It is possible to decapitate or dismember enemies, using bladed weapons. There are also examples of violence towards vulnerable and defenceless characters. Players may encounter hostage situations, where enemy groups line up bound civilians and execute them. Players are additionally able to kill multiple innocent civilians in towns and cities.
This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, in the form of cosmetic bundles and a premium in-game currency called Helix Credits, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items. There are depictions of the Japanese form of ritualised suicide, seppuku, in which characters take their own lives using a blade. This occurs in the historical context of a game set in feudal Japan.
Any day now, we should expect an announcement for Assassin’s Creed Shadows coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
