Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei is the long-awaited follow-up to the outstanding Ghost of Tsushima. Its game length is a topic of conversation, though. Sequels often end up being much bigger than what came before, but creative director Jason Connell has reassured players.
Ghost of Tsushima was a great length for an open-world title. It balanced its main-game content with the large variety of side activities. I personally loved the freedom and flexibility to dart back and forth. One second, I was chopping up enemies; the next, I’m playing follow the fox.
Ghost of Tsushima & Ghost of Yotei Have “Similar Numbers”

Sucker Punch creative director Jason Connell recently sat down with Games Radar.
“We designed the game with some of the similar numbers, in terms of scale and scope of the last experience, in mind. In that way, we actually found it to be quite satisfying, and there were some good numbers to jump off of,” he said.
How Long To Beat is a handy go-to source for game-length approximations. The website says you need 25 hours to complete Ghost of Tsushima’s main game, 46 hours for main and side content, but over 60 hours to complete absolutely everything.
Connell added: “We feel that the experience of playing through Ghost of Yotei, whether you’re just ripping through the story, or you’re somebody that likes to just go through the whole world and explore, or you’re that hardcore platinum chaser – that it is a similar experience [to that of Ghost of Tsushima], we expect, in terms of the time commitment.”
