Peak has been an instant hit, attracting over a million players, and multiplayer is a key feature of the game. There are some restrictions though, so we’ve got the full details for you.
Released on June 16, Peak has excelled since launch and achieved over 100,000 concurrent players in its first week, becoming an instant hit among players.
While the game can be played entirely in single-player mode, multiplayer options are available and offer the best experience. We’ve got all the details you need on the future.
Does Peak Have Online Multiplayer?

Yes, Peak offers online multiplayer as a feature, though there are some significant constraints.
Peak only offers multiplayer with Steam friends, with no matchmaking to find a group. However, the developer encourages the use of the official Discord to find a group of players.
Once a player is added as a Steam friend, you can play in a group of up to four players. Each player must be playing on PC, as Peak is not available on other platforms and, as a result, there’s no crossplay.
There was previously a bug that allowed random players from joining lobbies, but this was fixed in an update on June 24.
Don’t expect any major overhauls to Peak beyond patches and bug fixes, however, as the game is very much considered to be complete by the developer.
Does Peak Have Split-Screen?
No, Peak does not offer split-screen play or local multiplayer options. To play with another player nearby, you both need to be connected to the internet and connect to a friend session.
Given that the official FAQ says there are no plans to provide further updates to Peak, don’t expect split-screen play to be added in the future either.
Given the popularity of Peak and the easy-to-pick-up nature, the lack of split-screen may be a surprise, but it does make some sense due to not being available on other platforms.
It remains to be seen whether any of this changes with future updates, if there’s enough of a demand from the community, but it doesn’t seem likely.
