The Witcher 3 is potentially asking The Witcher 4 to hang fire as The Witcher 3 could be getting its first proper DLC expansion in nearly a decade. It’s being outsourced to a different company—if it’s happening—and would follow on from Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine.
The Witcher 4 is CD Projekt Red’s, well, main project. It’s the long-awaited sequel to 2015’s The Witcher 3 masterpiece. A recent tech demo gave us a huge glimpse into what we can expect. What we didn’t expect was a bombshell rumor that The Witcher 3 is getting more story content.
CD Projekt Red Reportedly Releasing The Witcher 3 DLC This Year

As reported by Polish podcasters Rock and Boris (through MP1st), a third major DLC expansion is planned for The Witcher 3.
“From the information we have collected, it turns out that the announced, mysterious project by CD Projekt Red, made by Fool’s Theory, is a story DLC for The Witcher 3. This is confirmed information from several independent sources.”
“What we know is that this is a DLC for The Witcher 3. Based on one piece of information, I can’t confirm it any further, but the earliest it could be is in the future year. We also more or less know the order of the releases: first, mods for consoles, then the DLC for The Witcher 3, then The Witcher 4, and finally, the remake of The Witcher 1.”
Do you think this will happen? Is it a great move to get players even more excited and ready for The Witcher 4? Let us know below and through the Insider Gaming forum.
