After years of waiting since the initial announcement, The Alters finally has an official release date.
From the minds behind This War of Mine, Frostpunk, and Moonlighter, The Alters is 11 Bit Studios’ latest project. The sci-fi survival game follows the story of Jan Dolski, a miner, who was the lone survivor of a crash landing on a dangerous planet.
Dolski is forced to operate a mobile base designed for an entire team by himself to survive. And to make matters worse, the planet’s sun is too bright and causes lethal radiation. However, thanks to a mysterious substance found on the planet, Dolski creates alternative versions of himself called Alters that are the result of changing a previous decision in his life. It’s up to you to collect resources, craft items to build your base, and manage all of the Alters and their needs.
The Alters Release Date
The Alters officially releases worldwide on June 13 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
11 Bit Studios initially revealed The Alters in June 2022, during the PC Gaming Show. The game was originally planned for a release in November 2024, but the development team announced a delay until Q1 2025. Then, in February, the game was delayed again without an official release date.
Just over three years after the first announcement, the wait is finally almost over.
And this game won’t be a walk in the park, as every decision you make impacts Jan’s survival chances. Additionally, you will never be able to satisfy the needs of every Alter, so you will have to manage relationships and make challenging choices to improve your survival percentage.
