Mundfish has taken to the stage at Summer Game Fest to unveil Atomic Heart 2. The revelation comes a little more than two years after the first game was released, turning heads on account of its originality and sumptuous visual palette.
This news also comes just a few days after Mundfish revealed Atomic Heart (2023) hit 10 million players.
Atomic Heart 2 wasn’t the game on everyone’s wishlists, but it’s a solid addition to the Summer Game Fest lineup nonetheless.
In The Heart of It
Atomic Heart was available on Game Pass when it was released in February 2023, which undoubtedly helped it secure that 10 million player milestone.
It’s by no means a bad game, though and would likely have succeeded either way. It’s a little tough, and some of the boss battles were surprisingly challenging, but that’s not always a bad thing.
Mundfish has revealed that Atomic Heart (2023) is getting a follow-up title. This was a long-rumoured thing that has finally been confirmed by the studio.
As early as October 2024, claims had surfaced suggesting that Atomic Heart 2 had entered production, and it’s nice to see the confirmation on that topic.
Here’s the first trailer for the game.
Mundfish neglected to provide a release window for Atomic Heart 2, but at face value, it looks great.
The announcement stated that Atomic Heart 2 is in active development and is a “spiritual successor” to the first game, with a retro-futuristic world and a greater emphasis on RPG elements and player freedom.
