Elden Ring Nightreign Launches to Mixed User Reviews But Huge Player Count on Steam

After months of waiting, it’s time for Elden Ring Nightreign. FromSoftware has taken a decidedly different path with its newest Souls game. Early indicators are that players don’t like it as much as previous FromSoft releases, but it hasn’t stopped over 300,000 players from entering Limveld (not Limgrave).

Everything we’ve seen from Elden Ring Nightreign to this point suggests it’s more of the same. Titanic battles where every hit counts, epic scores to regale you during said stand-offs, and epic rewards for felling great foes. The review embargo was finally lifted on May 28, but players themselves are finally leaving reviews.

As of writing, Elden Ring Nightreign has a Mixed user review score on Steam. This suggests it has many positive sentiments, but also plenty of negative ones to counteract them. Criticisms seem to be the same:

  • The fast-paced nature of the gameplay—compared to Elden Ring’s more methodical exploration.
  • No crossplay.
  • A lack of native voice chat.
  • Not being able to play with just two players.

These are all understandable complaints. However, despite this, the game’s all-time concurrent peak stands at a phenomenal 313,593 already. With its first weekend still to come, this figure could easily rise.

It will take a lot to overtake the original Elden Ring’s 953,426 all-time peak, though. But it’s still impressive nonetheless.

Have you had a chance to play Elden Ring Nightreign yet? How does it compare to Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC? Let us know in the comments below and through the Insider Gaming forum.
