Apple has purchased its first video game studio.
According to a new report from Giovanni Colantonio at Digital Trends, Apple has acquired RAC7 the studio behind Apple Arcade title Sneaky Sasquatch. RAC7 is a two-person studio that also developed games like Dark Echo in 2015 and Splitter Critters in 2018.
In a message given to the outlet, an Apple spokesperson confirmed the purchase.
“We love Sneaky Sasquatch and are excited that the 2-person RAC7 team has joined Apple to continue their work on it with us,” the spokesperson said. “We will continue to deliver a great experience for Apple Arcade players with hundreds of games from many of the best game developers in the world.”

According to the report, Apple purchasing RAC7 was done to “help the team grow its game more on Apple Arcade”. Apple told the outlet that it will still work with third-party studios to develop more games for Apple Arcade.
RAC7 was founded in 2014 by Jason Ennis and Jesse Ringrose. The studio is based in Vancouver, Canada.
