Nintendo’s Mario Kart World pulls no punches in its attempts to be huge. The world map is massive, the races are bigger than ever, and the character roster is sizable with a ton of old and new faces to control.
Most players have their favorite Mario Kart drivers. Some love the speed and brute power of Bowser, for instance, but hate that he handles like a brick wall. Others go for a nice all-rounder who’s adept at all facets of driving.
Mario Kart World is set to make this headache worse by offering a simply staggering number of drivers from the get-go.
How Many Characters in Mario Kart World?

It appears there are 50 characters to choose from in Mario Kart World at the time of writing.
Between trailers, pre-release screenshots, and gameplay footage shown off during live streams and Nintendo Directs, a total of 50 characters have been spotted riding around in Mario Kart World. This includes a ton of series-favorite racers and returning legends, to newcomers—including a lot of enemies from previous Mario games!

Do we Know if Mario Mario World Will Have DLC?
So far, there has been no mention of Super Mario World having post-launch DLC, but this doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
50 characters is an extraordinary amount; however, while we’ve seen the presence of them all in the game at one point or another, it doesn’t mean all 50 will be available from the start—or unlockable—and it’s merely an early look at racers who will cross the starting line later on through paid DLC.
Mario Kart 8 added 14 new playable characters as DLC after launch. The Mario universe is rich, and Nintendo can always pluck a special guest from another franchise if times are desperate. So we’ll have to wait and see if Mario Kart World’s big price tag could potentially grow in the long term.
Do any of the above characters catch your eye? Is there anyone (or anything) Nintendo is overlooking with Mario Kart World? Let us know in the comments, and you can always head to the trusty Insider Gaming forum to take your talks further.
