A new report has revealed that Fall Guy director David Leitch is currently in negotiations with Netflix to direct the upcoming Gears of War movie.
The report, by Hollywood Reporter, says that both David Leitch and his wife, Kelly McCormick is slated to produce the film via their company 87North alongside Gears of War developers The Coalition.
According to reports, the Gears of War movie is set to be a “big-budget” film by Netflix and will be an adapting of the Gears of War video game saga, implying that the film will likely be faithful to the source material.
Netflix acquired the right to the film in November 2022, with Jon Spaihts coming on board on the film as one of the movies script writers.
At the time of writing, Netflix did not offer comment to Hollywood Reporter on the report.
The Coalition are currently heads down developing the next instalment of the Gears of War franchise, Gears of War E-Day, with rumours suggesting the game could release late 2025. Microsoft is yet to officially commit to a release date.
Gears of War: E-day will see both John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro reprise their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago respectfully.
The announcement read, “On today’s 18th anniversary of Gears of War, we’re proud to share that John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro are reprising their roles as the iconic voices of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in Gears of War: E-Day.”
