The final online qualifying matches for the Call of Duty League 2025 season have wrapped, and all that remains is Major IV and COD Champs. As the sun sets on the regular season, the LA Thieves have secured the top spot in the standings, besting Atlanta FaZe by just 10 CDL points.
Major IV could (and probably will) change everything.
To Dallas
This coming weekend, the Call of Duty League (along with Counter-Strike, Halo, and a bunch of other games) heads to DreamHack Dallas. Major IV is slated to be a phenomenal event, and it’s the last hurrah for four teams. After this event, only eight will have anything left to play for in the CDL 2025 season.
The bracket is locked in, and fans are excited.
This past weekend saw some stellar matches take place to bring a close to yet another year of CDL qualifiers. We saw Toronto Ultra’s faith shaken by losses to both Surge and OpTic, while LAT extended a stunning record by decimating both Cloud9 and Boston.
Atlanta FaZe was dominant as usual, and LAG went out swinging, beating OpTic Texas in a five-map series, which have been rare in recent weeks.
It has been a tough streak of late for the Carolina Royal Ravens. The team had such a strong start to the season, but now finds itself in the middle of the table – and second from bottom in the current stage. Out of the last ten matches played, the Royal Ravens have won just two.
As we head to DreamHack Dallas and Major IV, some teams find themselves in a critical spot. If Cloud9 or Minnesota Rokkr go on a defiant run and secure a huge victory at Major IV, it could spell disaster for OpTic Texas. There is a chance that OpTic won’t make COD Champs, and it’s not even too much of a slim one.
If OpTic Texas somehow lands back-to-back losses at Major IV and crashes out, the team will end the season on 175 CDL points. With the gap between Rokkr and OpTic standing at just 40 points, Rokkr needs to finish in fourth place to overtake. Alternatively, Cloud9 needs to go on a serious burner and finish in at least third place.
Scary times.
