Sony’s Lost Soul Aside Release Date Delayed

Lost Soul Aside looks to fill a big hole in the AAA hack ‘n’ slash market. Published by Sony, it looks unbelievable, but Ultizero Games has announced the action title isn’t quite ready for its planned release date.

I feel like classic hack ‘n’ slash games are a dying breed. We once had a competitive scene with Devil May Cry, the OG God of War games, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and Onimusha regularly duking it out. In 2025, the scene resembles a western, with a loose tumbleweed ambling across the screen in clichéd fashion.

Developers are fixated on Soulslike action and prioritizing parrying and blocking over stylish combos and glitzy action. Lost Soul Aside feels like a spiritual successor to the genre, but you’re going to have to wait a bit longer for it.

Lost Soul Aside Release Date Pushed Back to August 2025

Lost Soul Aside was locked in for a May 30 release date. It was only a few months ago that we had the newest gameplay trailer, and a PS5 & PC Pre-Order Trailer was released on February 12.

But Ultizero Games CEO Yang Bing has delivered some bad news via the Lost Soul Aside X page: “We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Souls Aside will now release on August 29, 2025.

What we’ve seen so far looks incredible, to be honest. With Sony publishing Lost Soul Aside and a need for more hack ‘n’ slash action, here’s hoping this delay gives it an extra push to be a beast.

What have you made of Lost Soul Aside so far? Can it fill the void created by an absence of Devil May Cry-style action titles? Let us know in the Insider Gaming forum.
