This is a huge year for gaming and there are plenty of massive projects on the horizon, but which games releasing on Xbox in 2023 will be the most impactful?

Resident Evil 4 Remake (March 24th)

Xbox Game Pass: No

For some, the Resident Evil 4 Remake could be the best-remade game in the franchise thus far. In recent years, the entire series has been on a path of resurgence, and the reconstructions of this legendary brand have been enjoyed by millions of gamers.

Ghostwire: Tokyo (April 12th)

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

Ghostwire: Tokyo emerged in 2022 as a timed exclusive on PlayStation 5 and PC, and on April 12th, it’ll be arriving on Xbox Game Pass. It’ll be dropping on Xbox Series X|S consoles everywhere alongside a massive update that’ll promise to expand the game immeasurably.

Dead Island 2 (April 21st)

Xbox Game Pass: No

Dead Island 2 is one of the most highly-anticipated games releasing on Xbox this year. It has been in development for over a decade, and in the last few months, the developer has really stepped up marketing on the game. It looks fantastically violent, comedic, and brutally entertaining.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (April 28th)

Xbox Game Pass: No

It’s going to be a busy month for the number of games releasing on Xbox, and April wraps up with none other than Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. As a follow-up to 2019’s Fallen Order, Survivor is expected to expand beautifully on the story of Cal Kestis, bringing fresh Force-powered entertainment to fans the world over.

Redfall (May 2nd)

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

Redfall, from Arkane Studios, is an open-world epic designed to be played with friends. In Redfall, players are charged with ridding the fictional town of Redfall of a vampire-based plague that is besieging the region. It looks exciting, and the combat elements in the game seem innovative at first glance.

Street Fighter 6 (June 2nd)

Xbox Game Pass: No

Fighting fans will rejoice in June as one of the best games releasing on Xbox this year, Street Fighter 6, debuts. It has been seven years since Street Fighter 5 was released, and this is expected to be one of the most highly-anticipated fighting games to drop in 2023.

Diablo 4 (June 6th)

Xbox Game Pass: No

Unfortunately, it was explicitly confirmed that Diablo 4 will not be coming to Xbox Game Pass, but it’s still one of the top games releasing on Xbox in 2023. It’s a long-awaited epic that has been circulating online for years, and in June, fans of the age-old franchise will finally get their hands on the game.

Starfield (September 6th)

Xbox Game Pass: Yes

There are expectations that Starfield will be the greatest game of the year – perhaps even the decade. It has been in development for an immensely long time, and Bethesda Game Studios may have been using that time to create one of the largest, most open, most customisable adventures the gaming world has ever seen. It’s absolutely one of the best games releasing on Xbox this year – maybe even this century.

The Day Before (November 10th)

Xbox Game Pass: No

There’s a chance that The Day Before, one of the most-wished-for games ever, could turn out to be a complete lie. It has been postponed numerous times, but thanks to its nature and its fusion between The Last of Us and The Division, fans are desperate to believe it’s real. If it drops in 2023 as expected, it could be one of the most exciting games releasing on Xbox.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage (TBC 2023)

Xbox Game Pass: No

Mirage is said to be a return to the roots of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, with Ubisoft taking the game back to basics. It’s a stealth-focused adventure in a smaller world, and by definition of the timeline and setting, it’ll feel much like the older titles that gave birth to a legendary and iconic franchise.
