Now, gamers around the world find themselves asking on an almost daily basis, when will Grand Theft Auto 6 come out?
Who Can Confirm GTA 6’s Release Date?
As of 2023, there’s painfully little information regarding a potential GTA 6 release date. There were massive and impactful leaks in 2022 that saw almost 100 GB of content distributed online, including developmental snippets of Grand Theft Auto 6. These leaks revealed portions of the map, the protagonist(s), and even some of the story elements.
Shortly after, Rockstar Games, the age-old developer of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, did confirm that it was working on the next phase in the franchise, but that was it – no title, and certainly no release date for GTA 6.
It has now become one of the most talked-about topics in gaming, and everyone has a theory about Grand Theft Auto 6. There are claims that it’ll take place in a reimagined version of Vice City, and that it’ll feature a double protagonist system – so, like GTA 5, but one character less. This information has been gleaned more or less entirely from the leaks that took place in 2022.
So, nobody is really out there ready to confirm the release date for GTA 6, but does that mean this article stops here?

Will GTA 6 Be Released in 2024?
There has been speculation going as far back as 2021 that suggests GTA 6 will be released in 2024. There are very few insiders offering up any tangible evidence that GTA 6 will launch in 2024, but it does seem highly likely that it will.
In 2022, Microsoft let slip in a document that ‘the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024′. Then, in 2023, reliable insider, Tez2, suggested on the GTA Forums that ‘their aimed-always-changing-not-set-in-stone deadline is holiday 2024.’
It makes sense, as if the game is left any later, it’ll be starting to encroach on the next generation of consoles. If we work with what was seen in the 2022 leaks, it seems that a lot of groundwork has been laid, but the game was far, far from polished, meaning that another year or so might be enough time to make it ready to ship.
It’s not a definitive confirmation of when GTA 6 will be released, but until Rockstar confirms it, it’s the closest thing we’re going to get.
