007 First Light Switch 2 Release Delayed To March 2027

Nintendo fans have been eagerly waiting for 007 First Light to make its way to the Switch 2, but they’ll now have to wait a little longer, as the game’s release has been delayed once again. IO Interactive has confirmed that the game is now targeting a March 2027 release on Nintendo’s latest console.

007 First Light was originally expected to launch on Switch 2 this September, several months after the game arrived on other platforms in May. With the release now pushed back to March, Nintendo fans will have to wait around 10 months after the initial launch to experience the game on their platform.

007 First Light Six Months Out From Switch 2 Release

The news was confirmed directly by IO Interactive, which shared an update regarding the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light. The studio shared the following statement with the community:

“We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.”

It’s undoubtedly disappointing for Switch 2 owners, particularly as there’s still no exact release date to look forward to. However, fans will have an opportunity to get some hands-on time with 007 First Light this week, as the game is set to be playable at Tokyo Game Show.

Despite the latest delay, the response from fans has generally been fairly positive, although many are hoping that IO Interactive will opt to release 007 First Light on a physical Switch 2 cartridge rather than using a Game-Key Card.

Nothing has been confirmed regarding the physical release just yet, though, so fans may want to temper their expectations until IO Interactive provides further details.
