New Yakuza Remake Leaked by Ryu Ga Gotoku

A new Yakuza remake has accidentally been revealed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios before Tokyo Game Show 2025.

The Yakuza/Like a Dragon series has been ever-growing in popularity over the years, thanks to several big releases. For many, the Xbox Game Pass additions of Yakuza 0 and remakes Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 got them into the series. While many entries are available for new consoles, they are old builds. Fortunately, a new remake of a classic Yakuza entry has been revealed, albeit by accident.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 Accidentally Revealed Via RGG Studio’s Website

Some eagle-eyed fans, like X user Renka_schedule, found that the official Ryu Ga Gotoku website showed a category for Yakuza Kiwami 3. The name could be found with the past remakes, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2. While it has since been removed on the website, a Google search still shows the game’s title, albeit in Japanese. With Tokyo Game Show around the corner and RGG Studio doing a RGG Summit then, it seems like the remake will be announced then.

Seeing as the first two games were remade, Yakuza 3 seemed like a safe bet. Still, the game, which was released in 2009, is remembered for being a lukewarm entry compared to its predecessors. The story follows Kazuma Kiryu, now running an orphanage, returning to the Yakuza crime life after the orphanage’s land is threatened. Fans disliked the slow introduction and annoying combat, but praised the storytelling and characters. Fortunately, a remake could remedy those problems, which has the potential to make Yakuza 3 shine.
