On Saturday morning, 2K Sports and WWE held a special invite-only event for WWE 2K23. While Insider Gaming wasn’t at the event, we were able to receive some updates on what was shown and happened.
According to sources close to the event, though capturing some content was allowed, there were some elements that couldn’t be filmed—those were character selection screens or ratings.
Speaking of ratings, Roman Reigns was the highest-rated superstar in the game at 99 overall. Coming in right behind him was Brock Lesnar at 97. As far as female superstars go, Becky Lynch is the highest-rated woman, though her specific rating wasn’t given. The one thing to note about ratings is that they can, and are likely to, change ahead of the game’s March release.
As far as WarGames is concerned, the match was playable during the event. For those there, it was said that the match looked good in the game for the limited time they had with it.
People also got to experience the new optional pinning system. From those spoken to before this event, it’s something that has been described as “divisive”.
More on the WWE 2K23 event will come after the embargo lifts for those in attendance on February 1. This year’s game features the debut of the aforementioned WarGames match along with new features and improvements to modes like MyRise, MyFaction, MyGM, and Universe Mode. The game also sees the return of advanced entrance creation for custom entrances after missing from WWE 2K22.
WWE 2K23 launches on March 17 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
