Wolverine Won’t Have Anything New To Show at State of Play

Wolverine is one of the most highly anticipated games in the world right now, behind the likes of Grand Theft Auto 6. It has been in development for several years and, aside from a massive leak that uncovered stacks of content from the game’s earlier builds, it has been going quite swimmingly for the team at Insomniac.

However, it’s also a pretty drip-fed game when it comes to updates and new trailers. Unfortunately, those holding out hope that we’d see something new at the upcoming PlayStation State of Play should temper their expectations, as Insomniac has just confirmed that nothing new will be shown.

But We Might Still See Wolverine in Some Way

Insomniac recently replied to a user on social media asking when they’ll get more information about Wolverine, the studio’s next big title. In response, the team simply said, ‘Spring 2026.’

Now, that likely means we won’t get anything new during State of Play, the PlayStation-centric showcase that kicks off tomorrow afternoon. But it might still mean that we see more of what we already have. Alternatively, it could be the team at Insomniac subverting expectations to make a new trailer more impactful – who knows?

Here’s the grand trailer we got for Wolverine during the last State of Play in September 2025:

Marvel’s Wolverine is one of the most highly anticipated titles in the business right now, and the excitement for its eventual release is palpable. It has been known for a few months that Insomniac plans to release Wolverine later this year, and could be targeting Q3 for a launch window.

That’s assuming that no delays creep in, of course.

Where do you sit in the Wolverine debate? Is it your most anticipated game right now, or do you have other priorities? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
