Wolfenstein 3 and Wolfenstein TV Show Still in Development

B.J. Blazkowicz is allegedly set for not one but TWO upcoming roles: One in the long-awaited Wolfenstein 3, and the other on the big screen as a fully fledged TV show.

From the early days of Wolfenstein 3D to Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, William Joseph Blazkowicz has had more than his fair share of trouble with Nazis. The modern-day Wolfenstein games have been a breath of fresh air, and we’ve been crying out for the next game with BJ Blazkowicz for a long time.

Wolfenstein Sequel & TV Show Will ‘Complement Each Other’

Rumblings of a new Wolfenstein game kicked off last year when developer MachineGames hinted at a new Wolfenstein game, and the developer said earlier this year that it still plans to finish the Wolfenstein Trilogy.

It wasn’t long before a casting call revealed early plot details.

Thanks to Jez Corden at Windows Central, we know a bit more:

‘Microsoft is investing in MachineGames following the success of Indiana Jones, but also on the basis of the popularity of the Wolfenstein franchise. Indeed, Microsoft is actually developing a TV show based on Wolfenstein with the Fallout TV producers for Amazon — which fits heavily into Asha Sharma’s trans-media vision for Xbox. Wolfenstein 3 is in production to that end, according to our sources, with the goal of the TV show and game complimenting each other Fallout TV-style.’

This would align with our story that ZeniMax has been impacted by Xbox layoffs and will focus on its “Biggest Franchises.”

A new Wolfenstein 3 game is in development, it seems, and is almost a given with how popular the franchise is. However, a Wolfenstein TV show is a fascinating proposition.

Virtually every major gaming IP is being turned into some kind of movie or TV show lately, but I wouldn’t have pencilled Wolfenstein in for one of these slots, but who knows anymore!

Fallout and The Last of Us are paving the way for new game-to-screen adaptations, and if it’s done right, Wolfenstein could be a gory and glorious spectacle.

All this talk has put me in the mood for some Wolfenstein, and this trailer is perfect.
