Get ready to experience older Gears of War gameplay in glorious new ways. Fans old and new have been excited about Gears of War: Reloaded, but there’s some confusion over which games are included, and if it’s the first three GOW games. We have all the answers.
The Coalition has excelled with the Gears of War franchise in the last decade. From Gears of War: Ultimate Edition to the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day, the developer has produced the goods. 2025’s Gear of War: Reloaded is easily one of the year’s biggest remakes and The Coalition’s most important projects to date.
Remaking Epic’s OG media for a new audience and beastly hardware is a tough task. It looks like they’ve done it, but we’re here to see exactly which games Reloaded is targeting.
Is Gears of War: Reloaded A Remake of The First Three Games?

Gears of War: Reloaded is not a remake of the first three Gears of War games.
This guide answers this specific question, as I’ve seen it asked a lot across Reddit, Google, and other sources.
The word “trilogy” doesn’t appear anywhere in Reloaded marketing or advertising and has never been mentioned. Even Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was only a remaster of the first game. I think the speculation comes from a long-standing rumor that a Gears of War Collection was on the way.
X user Detective Seeds announced in March: “Gears of War collection should be releasing early to mid-August. It is PS5 Pro enhanced, but I have been told NO Multiplayer PVP, campaign focus only.”
This ended up being partially correct. Gears of War: Reloaded is set for August, but it’s not a collection and DOES feature multiplayer.
Gears of War collection should be releasing early to mid August. It is PS5 pro enhanced, but I have been told NO Multiplayer PVP, campaign focus only.
I’ll confirm that Gears of War: Reloaded does not include separate remakes of the first three Gears games. Let’s move on to which games you can expect to play in the Reloaded remake.
All Gears of War: Reloaded Games Included
The very first Gears of War game is the only GOW title to be included in Gears of War: Reloaded.
2006’s Gears of War is being remade for Reloaded. That’s it. It would be amazing if the OG trilogy was remade from scratch; however, I think many won’t complain (especially PlayStation players) and will be happy to experience the first Gears game in 2025 with all-new detail and power.
Are you disappointed to learn it’s only the first game being remade? Or are you still looking forward to Reloaded regardless? Let me know via the Insider Gaming forum. Do you hope more GOW titles are remade moving forward?

Didn’t they do this already on Xbox One. Xbox do other remakes Brute Force, Crimson Skies, Mech Assault, Blinx, Conker, Banjo, Jet Force Gemini, and others. True Crime and Tenchu.
Great, we get a redo of a game that was already redone.
Can’t make a new decent game
But can just keep selling nostalgia
Classic Microsoft
Oh boy, remake #2 of Gears 1. Crazy. Ultimate edition was great and still looks great on pc and series x. Why do we need the same shit with another paint of coat? Nobody asked for this. I hope it sells like shit so maybe they’ll stop remaking the same game and maybe remake 2 and 3.
This is a remake of a remake. How about 2 and 3 getting the same treatment. Would have been better if the second and third games got the treatment than just the first one.
in my opinion gears of war will always be a challenging game no matter what compared to those lame games like halo where you’re master cheif and by healing yourself you hide from the enemies unlike that gears of war is more realistic to where your character can chain saw an enemy in half, chain saw locks on fences or other stuff to get by. when you’re guy is down the only way up in the first one and 2nd i believe is to have another gear help you up which is close to what the military does or anyone in the service or civilian if we were under that sitiuation. That being said it keeps my brain going through out the day with challenging parts of the game especially raining sharp glass in the 2nd one or the 3rd one. Im glad they kept the whole gears of war game going on xbox because its and awesome game that should be one of the “greatest” 3rd person shoot’m up games. I liked Dynasty warriors and samurai warriors but they just didnt make them compatitable because call of duty games are more popular especially online
