To claim that Elden Ring rose in popularity to become one of the greatest games in the past five years would likely be an understatement. It won multiple Game of the Year awards and continues to impress many. I’m personally working on my third or fourth playthrough and excitedly awaiting the upcoming Elden Ring DLC release date. So, when will Shadow of the Erdtree be released?
When Does Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Release?
You can play Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree on Friday, June 21. It will launch simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. We’re just a few short weeks away from the massive expansion’s launch, so if you want to play through the core game again, now’s the time. Furthermore, you’ll likely want to level a character to the appropriate point in the story to access the DLC. We’ll have more on that below!
Unfortunately, we don’t have precise launch times just yet, but keep an eye out—we’ll update this post once that information becomes available!

What Level Do You Start Shadow of the Erdtree?
To start Shadow of the Erdtree in Elden Ring, you must first defeat Starscourge Radahn before you defeat Mogh, Lord of Blood. Once you defeat Mohg, touch the cocoon in his arena to teleport to the expansion’s new zone.
You’ll likely find yourself somewhere between level 100 to 150 at this point in the game. That said, the higher your level, the easier time you’ll have clearing the DLC. There’s nothing wrong with grinding a few levels before diving into the expansion!
