Despite Infinity Ward’s Warzone 2 DMZ mode being one of the biggest open secrets in Call of Duty history, it’s still been clouded by mystery. Insider Gaming’s anonymous data miner has revealed more on the gamemode, including a small but crucial piece of information; the DMZ is called the Deployment Zone.
Initially, it was believed the DMZ would be called the Demilitarized Zone as that DMZ is usually abbreviated too, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Call of Duty.
All that’s currently known about the DMZ is that it’s another game mode coming with Warzone 2 and will be free-to-play. Apart from that, all we really know is that it’s an extraction-based gamemode instead of a traditional Battle Royale.
Datamines have also shown that you’ll enter the DMZ with your own loadout, instead of dropping with just a pistol like in Warzone.
It’s understood that players will have six items to drop into the DMZ with;
- Primary Weapon
- Secondary Weapon
- 1 Tactical
- 1 Lethal
- 1 Field Update
- 1 Killstreak
Developers have mentioned in a previous Call of Duty briefing that Warzone 2 has been tested to have 100 players alongside 300 AI opponents. However, it looks like 400 AI opponents have been tested for the DMZ recently.
The Warzone 2 DMZ map “Al Mazrah” is huge, but details on the final number of actual players and AI on the map have not been revealed. Warzone 2 has already faced criticism from content creators who played the mode for the studios choices of AI and lack of loadouts, but no official word has been given of if those aspects will change come final release.
We’ll continue to update this article with more details on Warzone 2 DMZ as we gather more information.
