UNLIMIT Win Apex Legends Split 1 Playoffs at EWC 2026 in 10 Match Thriller

Japanese roster UNLIMIT claimed a remarkable victory in the Apex Legends Split 1 Playoffs at the Esports World Cup 2026.

In classic Match Point Finals fashion, the contest took 10 matches to find its eventual winner, with Sentinels and Team Vision narrowly missing out on clinching the title.

The trophy became the second title awarded at EWC 2026 after Luis Guadalupe ‘DarkAngel’ Castillo Gomez’s victory in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

UNLIMIT thwarts Sentinels to claim historic victory at EWC 2026

Unlimit were not amongst the favorites listed at the Apex Legends Split 1 Playoffs, nor were they at any time until the very end, with Liquid, Team Falcons, and Sentinels amongst the heavy hitters high up in the scoreboard.

Indeed, Sentinels would have closed out the contest in Game 7 if it were not for the Japanese roster, who saved themselves and the rest of the lobby by winning a straight-up fight against a Sentinels roster looking for back-to-back big titles.

Another victory followed for the roster in Game 9, bringing the team to the brink of clutching the title, but 10 other teams sat at that finish line, all fighting for that prestigious title in front of a rapid Paris crowd.

“One more game, one more game” were the chants as UNLIMIT brought about Game 8, but by the midpoint of Game 10, it was clear that this would be the last game.

With Liquid knocked out early, Falcons, Wolves, ZEDI, and ZETA DIVISION stood in UNLIMIT’s way, but brutal fighting saw team after team fall, with ZETA and UNLIMIT pitted against each other for glory.

Now was the time to strike, and UNLIMIT showed no hesitation in diving onto their regional rivals, claiming a remarkable victory in a game saved by their own hands against Sentinels, and delivered by Match wins.
