Ubisoft has announced in an internal email that layoffs will hit Ubisoft Barcelona, affecting dozens of employees.
In the internal email sent to Ubisoft employees, it was said that 51 people will be affected by the change, and that Ubisoft Barcelona will now focus on the Rainbow Six projects only.
In an email to staff, Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot said,
“In order to better adapt our cost structure, we reviewed our portfolio and made certain adjustments in our productions in order to refocus our resources and expertise on our priorities. It is in this context that Ubisoft Barcelona plans to redirect its expertise and resources towards Rainbow Six Siege.”
The news comes following major shakeups at Ubisoft, which, at the time of writing, has seen two studios completely closed. Ubisoft also announced that Rainbow Six Siege will see a 12% staff reduction, seeing around 120 employees affected and moved onto other projects.
