Ubisoft And Tencent Appoint Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes as Co-CEO’s in its New Subsidiary

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, has announced in an internal memo to staff that its new subsidiary with Tencent will have Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes as Co-CEO’s.

In an email sent to staff and sent to Insider Gaming, Yves Guillemot says that the subsidiary with Tencent “is part of Ubisoft’s broader reorganization, which we will structure into Creative Houses.”

“With that in mind, I’m pleased to announce that Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot will be the Co-CEOs of this first Creative House,” the email continues.

While confusing at first, Yves implies further in the email that Ubisoft will soon be seperated into multiple ‘Creative Houses’, which will be in charge of the different games and IPs within Ubisoft.

It’s currently unclear what these other Creative Houses entail, and whether or not they’ll be supported by Tencent or other companies.

Announced in March 2025, the Ubisoft and Tencent subsidiary saw Tencent fund $1.25 billion into it for a 25% stake, making its valuation at around $5 billion.

The deal will see three popular Ubisoft IPs; Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six put into the new business, with Ubisoft’s studios located in Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia.

In the internal email, Yves says that “we will be able to share more details about this new structure by the end of September”.

Understandably, sources tell Insider Gaming of their frustrations around Charlie Guillemot in partuclar, who say that he’s not qualified for the job. Charlie Guielemot will also lead the company’s Transformation Committee alongside Marie-Sophie de Waubert.
