If it’s up to Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard, Starfield will be getting annual expansions for the foreseeable future. In an interview with MrMattyPlays on YouTube, Howard talked about the future of Starfield and what he’d like to see for the game moving forward.
Howard says that the current plan is to have a new story expansion each year.
“How long that continues, hopefully a very long time, but we’re planning for the one after this, so there will be another one,” he said.
He then added, as a follow up to a previous question in the interview regarding answering lingering questions from the game’s story, that the goal with the expansions isn’t to answer all of the questions players have.
“We sort of look at it and say, ‘hey, what’s a good angle? What do we want to add to the game as far as an experience or a tone?’,” Howard said.
Right now, Bethesda is working on Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion. The expansion, which is set to launch this fall, follows “a mysterious power stirs in the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld.”
In Shattered Space, players will have to “investigate a frightening cosmic threat, explore a new planet, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and gear.”
