Jennifer English Steps Down From Lead Role in Tides of Annihilation

Eclipse Glow Games has revealed in a lengthy message posted to social media that Jennifer English has been forced to step down from the role of Gwendolyn in Tides of Annihilation. English was slated to play the lead in this upcoming post-apocalyptic action title, but owing to health reasons, she will no longer be able to deliver on the role.

The team has already found a replacement for English, reportedly with the actor’s assistance and recommendation being considered. This new performer is recording voiceover right now for the hands-on experience that’ll be available during Gamescom 2026 in Cologne.

Tides of Annihilation Faces Huge Actor Change

In the post on social media, the team at Eclipse Glow Games said:

We have some sad news to share, that Jennifer English will be stepping away from her role as the English voice of Gwendolyn, the main protagonist in Tides of Annihilation due to personal health reasons. She will continue to support the project in an advisory role.

Earlier in June, Jennifer informed us that she would no longer be able to continue in the role. While we were, of course, saddened by her decision, we completely understood and respected Jennfier in prioritizing her well-being. We are also deeply grateful for the care and responsibility she showed throughout this process.

Tides of Annihilation is quickly becoming one of the most highly anticipated games in the space. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like something of an epic, and despite it being Eclipse Glow Games’ first project as a collective, it seems immensely ambitious and unique.

In Tides of Annihilation, players assume control of Gwendolyn, who would have been voiced by English. They explore a ruined England, torn apart by the events that brought the world to its knees, and take on some immense, gargantuan enemies while wielding immense and ancient powers.

Eclipse explained the situation moving forward:

With Jennifer’s support and recommendation, together with recommendations from other members of our voice cast, we’ve been fortunate to find an incredibly talented performer to carry Gwendolyn forward. Her recent work in video games left a strong impression on both Jennifer and our team—not only for the performance itself, but for the remarkable care and dedication she showed in understanding the character—and we’re excited for players to experience her interpretation of Gwendolyn.
