Tides of Annihilation, a game that has been dubbed ‘Stellar Blade crossed with Elden Ring’, has just received a new trailer during the Xbox Partner Preview event. The showcase unveiled the ‘Break the Mirror’ trailer, pieced together by Eclipse Glow Games, the Chinese studio assembling Tides of Annihilation, an epic-scale action title that plays with mythology.
Insider Gaming sat down with Eclipse Glow during Gamescom 2024 to learn about Tides of Annihilation before it was even named Tides of Annihilation, and it’s shaping up quite nicely.
Tides of Annihilation Appeals Heavily to Soulslike Players
Tides of Annihilation fits nicely into the realm most recently occupied by games like Elden Ring, Lords of the Fallen, and WUCHANG. It’s a tougher-than-average action title that boasts the perspective of a Soulslike game, but it’s fused with intense mythological encounters in a half-real world based on post-apocalyptic London.
Eclipse Glow addressed the concerns around the difficulty level of Tides of Annihilation when they spoke with Insider Gaming earlier this year:
We are thinking about the difficulty level but haven’t decided. But we will also provide some strategic possibilities for players who don’t like action challenges without making the process very long and painful.
In a statement, the Lead Game Producer working on Tides of Annihilation, Kun Fu, said:
We’ve created a world that reimagines Arthurian Legend where themes of courage, loyalty, and heroism intertwine with an epic story set in a strange-yet-familiar setting that will test the mettle of true gamers and push the genre forward.
We are thrilled to share the next chapter of Gwendolyn’s journey, and this is only the beginning.

It was confirmed by Eclipse Glow Studios that Tides of Annihilation will support Xbox Play Anywhere, representing a partnership that’s also indicated by the game having a spot at the Partner Preview showcase.
