AMC’s The Walking Dead IP Offered To More Chinese Mobile Developers

AMC Global Media recently announced a partnership with Yodo1 Games in a bid to get the brand’s IP to more Chinese developers, focusing mostly on mobile games. This partnership includes some of AMC’s most prolific franchises, namely The Walking Dead.

It’s all about taking established IP and pushing it into new markets and allowing more developers to have their input from a gaming perspective. Yodo1 has stepped up as the publishing, integration, and pitching partner in this venture, as it has a fantastic track record in this very concept.

The Walking Dead’s Mobile Portfolio To Expand

The Walking Dead has seen many video game adaptations over the years, and plenty of those games have been mobile by nature. This includes Telltale’s The Walking Dead, which was ported to mobile way back in 2012 and enjoyed by many over the years.

In the last few years, we’ve seen several TWD games surface built specifically for mobile:

  • The Walking Dead: Survivors (Galaxy Play, Chinese developer)
  • The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land (Next Games, Finnish developer)
  • The Walking Dead: All -Stars (Funflow, South Korean developer)
  • The Walking Dead: Road to Survival (IUGO, Canadian developer)

But a new partnership between AMC Global Media and Yodo1 Games aims to push the IP further into China, targeting more mobile-focused developers. In a statement, AMC’s Head of Games, Clayton Neuman, said:

At AMC, our guiding principle is to meet our fans where they are. The explosive growth of gaming in the Chinese market and the enduring demand for these beloved franchises present a unique opportunity for us to do just that.

And speaking from Yodo1 Games, co-CEO Henry Fong echoed the sentiment:

Our strategy is to be the definitive bridge between Western entertainment giants and Chinese developers with global aspirations. This partnership with AMC proves that when you combine world-class IP with Yodo1’s strategic execution, everyone wins.
