The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Announced For September 2024

During the new Nintendo Direct showcase today, Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom with a trailer and release date.

The new Echoes of Wisdom game will launch on September 26, 2024. Today’s trailer reveals a stylized isometric world, featuring cozy miniature-like characters and environments.

Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma also gave fans a brief statement about Echoes of Wisdom. In this game, Link has vanished, putting Zelda at the forefront of the story. It will feature a “new gameplay style that breaks conventions.”

Today’s Echoes of Wisdom trailer explains some basic mechanics and story beats, revealing that “strange rifts have appeared” in Hyrule, taking many people. Zelda acquires a mysterious staff from the fairy Tri, and journeys to save her kingdom.

With the Trio Rod staff, players have the “echo” mechanic. This allows the player to replicate previously encountered objects at any time.

Players can also use this effect for map traversal, overcoming obstacles, and more. For example, the staff can also create echoes of monsters. This encourages strategy, selecting the appropriate monsters to create for any given situation.

Echos of Wisdom will introduce various new combat elements, such as picking up and throwing rocks.

During today’s Direct event, Nintendo has also announced new titles coming to Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pack.
