In a recent post on X, Paul Tassi of Forbes reported that The First Descendant developer Nexon plans to make “adjustments” following comparisons to Destiny 2.
Earlier this week, Tassi first reported controversial similarities between certain icons in The First Descendant and Destiny 2. While there were some differences in the imagery, the comparisons still drew some backlash.
Now, Nexon reportedly states it has “taken the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments.” These changes intend to distinguish the “imagery that may appear similar” and better reflect “the unique identity” of The First Descandant.
Nexon added that the First Descendant team admired Destiny 2, which “served as an inspiration during the development process.” The devs clarify that the team also has a “deep affection and respect” for other games in the genre, too.
The First Descendant just launched last week and soared up charts despite receiving some mixed reviews. On day one, it reached at least 229,000 concurrent players.
Soon after, developer Nexon also addressed The First Descendant’s frame rate issues. The team said it was investigating the issue, and to try reinstalling in the meantime. Today, the devs reinforced that they will “continue to improve the game for fans of the looter shooter genre.”
Nexon also recently launched The Finals, and later admitted that the game did not perform as well as expected.
