Far Cry Series Signs Steve Buscemi To The Cast List

The Far Cry team has revealed on social media that Steve Buscemi has been cast in the upcoming Far Cry television series, coming soon as an FX anthology production. The cast list has been growing in recent weeks, and Buscemi, who is arguably one of the most recognisable actors in the business, has found a spot on the roster.

It has been said that the Far Cry television show will stick true to the franchise’s classic blend of chaotic action and not-so-serious stories. The games typically boast large open-world environments, wacky characters, no-holds-barred combat sequences, and incredible villains, often played by the world’s most talented actors.

But who will Steve Buscemi play?

Buscemi Comes to Far Cry, But Why?

We know nothing about Steve Buscemi’s role in the upcoming Far Cry television series, which is being executive produced by Noah Hawley, the creator behind the likes of Fargo and Alien: Earth. Coincidentally, Buscemi is also well known for the former series and has worked with Hawley before.

The confirmed cast is small, for now, and includes just Buscemi, Rob Mac, and Lizzy Caplan. You’ll know Rob Mac from productions like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest, and Welcome to Wrexham. Caplan has enjoyed a lengthy and varied career covering a variety of projects, from Cloverfield to Masters of Sex, and from The Interview to Mean Girls.

It has been almost a year since the Far Cry series was unveiled, but until now, very little has been revealed. We know that it’ll launch on FX, Hulu, and Disney Plus, and we now have three cast members, but apart from that, we’re in the dark.

Hawley has spoken on the project, though, but gave nothing away:

What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme.

To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob (Mac) and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen.
