According to a recent message posted by ShiftUp, the developer behind Stellar Blade, the upcoming PS5 exclusive will be ‘uncensored’ in all countries, ‘including the Japanese version’. Surprisingly, Stellar Blade has been able to circumvent certain censorship standards, which is a wonder considering the controversy surrounding the protagonist’s appearance. One regulatory body gave the game a higher age rating based on the ‘jiggling breasts’ contained within.
Stellar and Uncensored
Stellar Blade is a brilliant game on the surface, boasting intense combat, an immersive and original story, and great world-building from ShiftUp. However, most critics have been unable to detach themselves from the ‘eye-candy’ protagonist – and some supporting characters. ShiftUp has made it known that they wanted to craft a conventionally beautiful main character, and to achieve that, they scanned the body of a South Korean model.
There are revealing outfits galore, and behind that, the game’s combat mechanics make for a grisly affair, with pools of blood and decapitation being the order of the day. It’s a surprise that it’s not being censored anywhere in the world, but nobody is going to complain about that.
Stellar Blade will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 26.
