Bethesda Addresses Starfield’s PS5 Performance Issues and Crashes

In a post on social media, Bethesda Game Studios has addressed the slew of complaints from PS5 users experiencing rampant issues in Starfield. The game dropped last week, and since it arrived, players have been reporting crashes aplenty, taking to social media to vent their frustrations about the game they waited almost three years to receive.

While Bethesda didn’t go into any kind of granularity about the particular root causes of these issues, they did stress that they’re ‘aiming to release a fix’ this week.

Starfield PS5 Crashes Are Being Fixed

Bethesda Game Studios has formally addressed the issues raised recently by PlayStation 5 players diving into Starfield and hitting crashes left, right, and centre:

Thanks for sharing your adventures across the Settled Systems this weekend — we’ve loved reading them! We’re aware of some reported PS5 crashing issues and have narrowed them down to a small number of causes. We’re addressing these in a hotfix we’re aiming to release this week. Thanks for flagging, and we’ll keep you posted.

Starfield came to PS5 on April 7th after almost three years of waiting. It arrived alongside the massive Free Lanes update and the game’s second major expansion, dubbed Terran Armada. Unfortunately, Terran Armada did nothing to revitalize the game’s dwindling sentiments, but that’s a topic for another article.

The comments under the post above were mixed, with some claiming that they’ve had constant crashes on other platforms since the game came out, and Bethesda’s attempts to patch up the title have made little difference.

One user wrote a scathing comment:

Bethesda, what is actually going on at your offices because from what we are seeing you’re doing the absolute bare minimum when it comes to your games now.
