Stardew Valley took the gaming world by storm when it was released back in 2016, promptly selling more than one million copies in two months. It was recently revealed that since the game entered the history books eight years ago, it has sold more than 30 million copies – and that more than 19 million of those sales were secured on PC.

Since day one, Stardew Valley has evolved under the watchful eye and skilful hands of a lone developer – Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone. Recently, Barone took to social media to reveal when the next major update – 1.6 – is coming to Stardew.

Milestones

In Stardew Valley, which is considered one of the world’s ultimate ‘chill-out’ games, players are invited to ‘build the farm of (their) dreams’. In this cute, charming title, players must construct a farm from the ground up, raise livestock, form relationships with the residents of a nearby town, and explore cave systems and a world bursting with opportunities to collect resources.

Now that the game has hit its eighth year on the market (and passed 30 million sales), ConcernedApe has revealed when the 1.6 update is hitting Stardew Valley.

On Twitter, it was said that the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley will be released first on PC on March 19th, with console and mobile releases following ‘as soon as possible’. Barone revealed the content and changes coming with 1.6 more than six months ago, but as a refresher, here’s what you can expect:

  • New major festival
  • Two new mini-festivals
  • New late-game content with expansions on skill areas
  • New items and crafting recipes
  • Joja alternatives to end-game quests
  • 100+ new lines of dialogue
  • Winter outfits for villagers
  • New rewards for billboard requests
  • 8-player multiplayer on PC
  • New farm type
  • New secrets

Stardew Valley is a remarkable game that continues to top the charts as the core community supports it religiously. It’s a firm favourite of millions of people the world over, and 1.6 is just the latest in a long line of changes that are keeping the game plugging along.
