In a new press release, Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World announced that industry veteran Agostino Simonetta will join its team as CCO (Chief Commercial Officer).
Simonetta will handle publishing and business development, including “the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and beyond”.
Fans may recognize Agostino Simonetta for their work at SEGA, THQ and Thunderful. GSC Game World’s CEO Evgeniy Grygorovych called Simonetta “a friend of GSC for many years”.
Grygorovych added that “GSC Game World has ambitious plans for the future, with new projects and IPs in development”. So, adding Simonetta as the new CCO may only be the first expansion in GSC Game World’s staff.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the open world FPS sequel from returning Ukrainian developer GSC Game World.
Player decisions will impact the story, while new mutants, anomalies, and factions will join the fray. It aims to be as immersive as possible, and already looks like a promising follow-up to the original hit.
Last January, the developers delayed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl until September 5th, 2024. The devs cited “technical imperfections that hold S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are waiting for”.
Some new Stalker 2 gameplay images did appear on the Epic Games Store last January. These images didn’t reveal many new details, though fans did praise the visuals.
Agostino Simonetta issued an official statement after joining the GSC Game World team as CCO:
“I am honored to join GSC Game World as Chief Commercial Officer. Having cultivated a friendship with the company over many years, I am thrilled to collaborate with the talented team in bringing our shared vision to fruition. I am excited about the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and look forward to contributing to its success, as well as to the exciting future plans that we can build together.”
