Squirrel With a Gun Gets October 2024 Release Date For Xbox & PlayStation

In a new trailer released today, Maximum Entertainment confirmed that Squirrel with a Gun will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on October 15, 2024.

Until now, those platforms only had a release window for fall 2024, and today’s announcement coincides with day three of Gamescom. The new console release trailer showcases vehicle and drone gameplay, a wide range of shooting, platforming, and more.

Ahead of the Xbox and PlayStation releases, Maximum Entertainment previously announced that Squirrel with a Gun will launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 19, 2024.

Just this week, Insider Gaming also revealed reactions after a hands-on experience with the game, deeming Squirrel with a Gun another Indie Must Buy. There is currently no plan to release the game on last-gen consoles.

Today’s trailer also shows off the central objective of the sandbox game, which is to collect golden acorns by any means necessary.

Earlier this month, the devs shared a post-release roadmap on the official Steam page, including content coming through August 2025. This September, the game will add a Photo Mode. A new Super Platforming Challenge level and a new rival are both coming in December 2024.

Some fans compare Squirrel with a Gun to hit sandbox action games like Goat Simulator 3 from Coffee Stain, who announced a Remastered version during Gamescom.
