For those who want to take a trip down memory lane, early prototype gameplay of SOCOM 3: U.S Navy SEALs has appeared online.
Uploaded to YouTube, the video shows gameplay from roughly a month before the game’s release. It’s clearly buggy as it’s pre-release, but gives a nice look at where things stood for developer Zipper Interactive at the time.

What Was SOCOM 3?
As the name suggests, SOCOM 3: U.S Navy SEALs was the third installment in the classic tactical third-person shooter. The game was released on October 11, 2005 for PlayStation 2 and was the follow up to 2003’s SOCOM II U.S. Navy SEALs.
The game featured 14 single-player missions, offered online multiplayer, and received positive reviews from critics. There was a bit a controversy with the game, however, as developer Zipper Interactive required players to verify themselves via credit card, debit cards, or even VISA gift cards. Without verification, players were limited to what they could do online. While it seems common today, back in 2005 it was somewhat unheard of, especially for a PlayStation game
After SOCOM 3, Zipper Interactive developer four more SOCOM games along with Unit 13 and MAG. The studio was ultimately closed in March 2012 after Sony announced a “resource realignment”.
